DISPATCHER-CLERK

 

I.                    OBJECTIVES

 

To insure that the Cooperative will be the member/owner’s electric power supplier of choice by rendering dedicated service to the Cooperative on a daily basis by specifically:

A.    Providing maximum effort in serving the membership by meeting the needs of the member/owners in a courteous, prompt and efficient manner.

B.     To assist in economical operation of maintenance by assigning work to maintenance crew nearest to the work to be performed.

C.     Cooperating with and supporting fellow employees in accomplishing the objectives of the Cooperative with a spirit of teamwork and unity of purpose. 

D.    Representing the Cooperative in a manner that will maintain a favorable image of the Cooperative membership and general public.

 

II.                 RESPONSIBILITIES

A.  Becomes familiar with and understands radio procedures and operates all two-way communications equipment in accordance with FCC requirements.         

B.      Maintains contact with maintenance crews and dispatches work to be performed to them.

C.      Becomes familiar with and understands systems map, direction of feed and OCR, Air Break Switch, and Sub-Station locations.

D.     Maintains flow of communication with all departments by obtaining information and maintaining records to assure proper handling of each member/owners account.

E.      Maintains the Outage Management System and is responsible for properly dispersing outage groups based on the protective device that operated.

F.       Records and properly prepares reports on all outages. and other events using Microsoft software products efficiently.

G.     Becomes familiar with and understands the procedure for operating the telephone system.

H.     Assists the operations/engineering clerk in maintaining an updated system map. Updates all operations and engineering records and maps when the operations/engineering clerk is unavailable.

I.         Performs other duties as may be assigned by management from time to time.

 

III.       REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

A.    Reports To:  Manager of Engineering

B.     Supervises:  None

 

IV.       RELATIONSHIPS

A.    Internal:

1.      Manager of Engineering:  Maintains communication with the Manager of Engineering, Manager of Maintenance, Manager of Construction and Executive Vice-President CEO to provide information on unusual situations, happenings or events.

2.      Other Cooperative Personnel:  Maintains communications with all employees as may be necessary to provide a flow of information, which relates to dispatching.

B.     External:

1.      Member/Owners:  Maintain a flow of information with member/owners and general public in a considerate manner to promote goodwill and cooperation.

V.         QUALIFICATIONS

A.    Education & Training:  High School diploma or equivalent required, college degree preferred.

B.     Abilities & Skills:  Must have the ability to deal with member/owners in a capable manner.  Must have the ability to meet the objectives outlined within this job description.

C.  Experience:  Use of two-way radios, fax machines, telephones and computers is

      preferred.  Knowledge and use of spreadsheets, databases and word processing is also

      preferred.
