When KEC was established in 1945, the founders counted on the cooperative spirit to improve the quality of their own lives, as well as the lives of those in rural areas of southeastern Oklahoma.  In that same spirit, KEC Foundation's Operation Round-Up program is a simple way for KEC members to help a neighbor or ensure that our rural communities continue to thrive.

Operation Round-Up is a community outreach program funded by participating Kiamichi Electric members.  The small change that results from "rounding up" monthly electric bills adds up to big changes in the communities served by KEC.  Participating members contribute an average of $6 annually -- or 50 cents per month -- by voluntarily "rounding up" their electric bill payments.  Funds are administered by five volunteer trustees who represent the counties in which KEC provides electric service

Funds are available for individuals living in the KEC service area and for non-profit agencies serving residents in Latimer, Leflore, Pittsburg, northern Atoka and northern Pushmataha Counties.  The goal of Operation Round-Up is to help individuals, families and community organizations address needs that cannot be met through other resources.

Operation Round-Up funds are targeted for the following areas:

Health:  Helping families cope with emergencies, illness and special medical/dental needs.

Community and Emergency Services: Aiding community and emergency service providers in their effort to improve the quality of life for neighbors and supporting the health, safety and well-being of residents in area communities.

Youth/Senior Citizens:  Assisting community youth organizations and activities which promote good citizenship, as well as providing assistance to programs that serve the area's senior citizens.
